Our Canadian tech venture firm builds AI-powered SaaS platforms that solve complex problems in regulated industries. We are seeking two (2) Regulatory Solutions Consultants to support our growing portfolio of regulatory and compliance products for the energy sector.
While both roles share the same core responsibilities, we are looking for consultants with deep expertise:
- Oil & Gas
- Mining
These consultants will collaborate closely with product, data, and engineering teams to translate complex regulatory requirements into scalable, tech-enabled solutions that deliver real value to our clients.
Your Focus
Regulatory Expertise & Advisory
- Interpret and analyze regulatory frameworks governing oil, gas, and power utility operations across North America.
- Advise internal stakeholders and clients on compliance, permitting, and policy implications.
- Identify opportunities to streamline regulatory workflows using technology and automation.
Solution Design & Implementation
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to design AI-driven tools that address key regulatory pain points.
- Contribute to requirements gathering, feature definition, and validation of regulatory data models.
- Support testing and pilot deployments of regulatory solutions with industry partners.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with clients, regulators, and subject-matter experts to ensure solutions align with both compliance standards and business goals.
- Prepare clear documentation, regulatory submissions, and reports.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and knowledge resource on emerging trends in regulatory technology.
Research & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and interpret changes in federal and provincial energy regulations.
- Provide input on best practices and frameworks for regulatory data management and automation.
- Support thought leadership initiatives such as whitepapers, presentations, or workshops.
What You Bring
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Advanced degree or professional certification in regulatory affairs, compliance, or energy policy is an asset.
Must Have:
- 5–10 years of experience in a regulatory, compliance, or policy role within oil & gas, and mining background.
- Proven experience working with or within major companies such as Cenovus, Suncor, TransAlta, or Capital Power (or similar).
- Strong understanding of regulator processes and other key regulatory bodies.
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex regulations in practical business terms.
- Excellent stakeholder management and written communication skills.
- Interest in applying technology and data-driven solutions to regulatory challenges.
Specialized Requirements (Two Positions)
We are hiring two consultants, each with deep expertise in one of the following areas:
- Position 1: Oil & Gas background experience
- Position 2: Mining background experience
Nice to Have:
- Background in Engineering, Law, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
- Experience with digital transformation, RegTech, or compliance automation.
- Familiarity with AI or data platforms in regulatory or industrial contexts.
- Previous consulting or advisory experience.
